About the Community Transport Support Grant

The Community Transport Support Grant is designed to assist organisations and community groups to access transport for community-based activities.
The program provides financial support to help reduce barriers to participation, particularly for activities that:

  • Reduce social isolation
  • Support community connection
  • Enable participation in recreational activities within or outside the Camden Local Government Area (LGA)

The aim of the program is to create equitable access to opportunities and support activities that deliver direct benefits to residents of Camden LGA.
It also recognises that one-off transport assistance can provide long-term benefits to individuals and the broader community.

Funding Available

Funding is available to support community transport-related costs associated with eligible activities.

  • Financial assistance is provided for transport expenses only
  • Funding is not guaranteed and is subject to assessment against program criteria
  • Funding of up to $500 per application 

Application Timing and Limits

Applications are open year-round and can be submitted at any time.

  • Applications are assessed on an ad hoc basis
  • The program is designed to respond flexibly to one-off or emerging needs
  • Once submitted applications may take up to 6 weeks to process, allowing for assessment, internal approvals, and required signatory processes

Eligibility and Assessment

All applications are assessed against program guidelines and operating procedures to ensure:

  • A fair and equitable process for all applicants
  • Requests are consistent and transparent
  • Funding aligns with Council’s commitment to community wellbeing

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • A clear community benefit to residents of Camden LGA
  • A need for transport to support participation in the activity
  • Alignment with program objectives, including reducing social isolation and encouraging community participation

Funding decisions are based on these principles and the overall value of the activity to the community.
