Community Transport Support Grant

About The Program

The Community Transport Support Grant provides funding of up to $500 to create opportunities for eligible organisations and groups to access community transport. The program aims to reduce social isolation and promote recreational activities within or outside the Camden Local Government Area.

The program operates under Camden Council’s Community Financial Assistance Policy and supports transparent, equitable and merit-based consideration of requests, subject to available budget.

Council recognises that transport assistance can provide community benefit by supporting access, participation, connection and wellbeing for residents of the Camden Local Government Area.

Please note that processing time may be at least six weeks due to the volume of applications and the number of signatures required.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for funding, an organisation or group must:

  • Be an eligible organisation or group delivering an activity that provides direct community benefit to residents of the Camden Local Government Area;
  • Have acquitted any prior Camden Council grants before applying for further grant funding;
  • Have no outstanding debts to Council;
  • Identify and declare any actual, potential or perceived conflict of interest in accordance with Council’s Code of Conduct Policy;
  • Provide evidence that the request supports access to community transport for a recreational or community activity within or outside the Camden Local Government Area.
  • Provide a quote or evidence of transport costs, where requested by Council.

Ineligibility

Council does not provide funding through this grant for:

  • Political parties or political groups;
  • Applicants with outstanding debts to Council or unacquitted prior Council grants;
  • Activities or requests that do not align with Council policy, provide no demonstrated community benefit, or are inconsistent with the intent of the Community Financial Assistance Policy.

Criteria for Funding

Requests of up to $500 will be assessed in line with the Community Financial Assistance Policy, relevant program guidelines and the principles of transparency, equitability, community benefit and value for money.

The following criteria will be applied when assessing requests:

  • The purpose of the transport request;
  • Previous requests made by the applicant;
  • Annual Council budget allocation and availability;
  • The amount requested; and
  • The applicant’s access to alternative sources of funding.

Applications will be considered on their merits and in accordance with available budget. Council will consider the overall benefit of the request and the extent to which it supports access, inclusion and participation for the Camden community.

Assessment Process

Applications will be assessed by Council Officers against the eligibility criteria and program intent, with approvals managed in accordance with Council’s Community Financial Assistance Policy and relevant delegations.

The Community Transport Support Grant is subject to available budget and approval is not guaranteed. Successful requests will be determined at Council’s discretion and may be considered for partial funding.

A detailed summary of all funds allocated through the Community Transport Support Grant will be reported in Council’s Annual Report.

Managing the Grant

Successful applicants must use the funds only for the approved transport purpose and notify Council if there are any changes to the activity or transport arrangements.

If the activity is cancelled or funds are not used for the approved purpose, Council may request the return of unspent funds.

Supporting Documentation

  • Quote or evidence of transport costs, where requested by Council.
  • Evidence that the activity supports social inclusion, participation or reduced social isolation for Camden residents.
  • Any other supporting information required to demonstrate eligibility and community benefit.
