Julia Reserve Youth & Community Centre Expression of Interest

About the Expression Of Interest

Camden Council recognises the values and strengths of Camden’s youth sector and all organisations that support local young people. Julia Reserve Youth & Community Centre is a purpose-built youth facility located within the Julia Reserve Youth Precinct. The centre currently operates under a co-location model of service delivery with spaces available for those services to outreach their services, for more information about this please email JuliaReserve@camden.nsw.gov.au. In addition to this, there are three other spaces that are available for utilisation within the centre: Activity Room 1, Activity Room 2 and the Cultural Activity Room/ Auditorium Space.

Council seeks to support Camden’s young people by making these spaces available to services, organisations and groups that align with the strategic direction of the facility. Council is therefore seeking expressions of interests from organisations and groups to utilise these rooms.

 

The objectives are as follows:

  • To increase accessibility to the Julia Reserve Youth and Community Centre for not-for-profit and community groups that support young people aged 12-24yrs;
  • To increase entertainment and recreational opportunities for young people aged 12-24yrs within the Julia Reserve Youth and Community Centre;
  • To enhance community awareness and involvement at the Julia Reserve Community Centre
  • To enhance community wellbeing, sense of belonging through exposure to high quality events and activities that are of interest to young people. Applications are to be made via the Smartygrants portal.

Criteria/Eligibility: 

To be eligible to hire these spaces, an applicant must:

  • Be delivering an event, project or activity for people aged 12-24.
  • All staff, volunteers and relevant contractors aged 18 years or older must hold a current Working with Children’s Check and be willing to complete a Julia Reserve Child Protection and Site Induction as well as a Kitchen Induction, if relevant. 

*utilization of these rooms is only available from 10am-5:30pm, Monday-Friday (not including public holidays)

 

The following activities/ events are not eligible to hire these spaces:

  • Activities that involve selling food or beverages
  • Events that are scheduled to take place outside of the times listed in the criteria section (exceptions may be made by Council staff for Friday night activities)
  • Groups that push a specific religious or political view (religious groups can apply however, the activity they hold must be non-denominational)
  • Birthday parties or other similar private events
  • Events that are not at least 80% focused on the youth demographic (12-24yrs) or have strong youth adjacent focus.
  • Events that do not align with the  strategic direction of the facility as a youth centre.

 

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:

The following criteria will form the basis of assessment of applications:

  • Experience in delivery of high-quality events, programs or activities.
  • Demonstration of how the program, event or activity will support the development of Camden’s youth demographic leading to an increased sense of community connection for this cohort
  • Demonstrate how the program, event or activity contributes to the Julia Reserve Youth and Community Centre program and priorities.

Utilising the facility:

The following conditions apply to all successful applications:

  • Events and activities will be consistent with what was outlined in your application.
  • Ensure all third-party documentation including insurance, Child Safety Plans and stage plans (if required) are provided prior to the utilisation of the space
  • Ensure that all staff, volunteers and third-party contractors over the age of 18 submit valid Working with Child Check documentation to Council prior to the hire of the space and take part in a Julia Reserve Child Protection and Site Induction.
